Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.
In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.
upgrade item will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not reach its max level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a structure, engineers will utilize an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the better your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also features several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can help you get a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and reach higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can have different sizes, have none at all, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or organize information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to par with the levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended since it will give a substantial increase in their performance. It will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
